DMK Joins BIMA

BIMA showcases and rewards great digital work, celebrating excellence and raising standards, and in doing so inspires and supports current and future talent. The 2010 BIMA Awards will be held on 25 November 2010. The new site for the Awards is now live at http://bimaawards.com BIMA has never shrunk from its responsibility to reflect the very highest standards of creativity and innovation and caused controversy some years ago when it considered that the measure of work in one particular category was not of sufficient merit to be awarded a winner’s trophy. More recently, the industry applauded BIMA’s decision when it announced that the judge’s favourite – the BIMA Grand Prix – was the winning entry in the student category. The BIMAs™ now rightly take their place on the top shelf of prestigious Awards, alongside the BAFTAs, the Brits and the Oscars. To win a BIMA, therefore, is truly the highest accolade in a very competitive world.

C:ADM2010 International Conference

“Cybernetics: Art, Design, Mathematics — A Meta-Disciplinary Conversation” is a conference where the main business will be to confer—to explore ideas through discussion and open exchange, in other words, to take part in an enormous brainstorm together! It is concerned with forming and asking the next question rather than reporting on answers to the last question.

The conference is constructed around exploring and developing analogies between our four areas—cybernetics, the arts (including music), design and mathematics. Cross-overs between pairs of these subjects have been common, yet the nature of these cross-overs has rarely been examined, nor have all 4 subjects previously been brought together. http://www.asc-cybernetics.org/2010/?page_id=3

DMK in Second Life July 2010

During the later part of July, Digital Media Kingston will be running a series of free open events in Second Life http://secondlife.com/ This browser based virtual world  is free to join and use and only requires you to download a client viewer, you can then create an avatar and join us at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/The%20Knowledge%20Zone/57/210/25 . DMK Staff and students will be available for you to ask about the new Industry Facing Masters courses and the student experience. Invitations are going out world wide to Industry partners and new students.
